Working at Sills & Betteridge Solicitors
As a full-service law firm operating across many different regions we need a variety of people from different backgrounds with different skill sets to help us provide our award winning legal services. Each day at Sills & Betteridge is different with new challenges and successes.
A large proportion of our staff choose to fit their working hours around their personal lives and commitments outside of work. By supporting their choice to choose where and when to work, we help them to make a full and fair contribution to their team while maintaining that all important work/ life balance.
We have a responsibility to make a positive impact on our local communities; to promote diversity, protect the environment and give back to those who give us so much. Our corporate responsibility activity is our way of making a difference.

The firm's culture is open, friendly and professional. We encourage an open door policy and believe in open and honest communication at all levels. We treat our people with respect, honesty and care and in turn our people treat our clients this way. Our clients often comment that they appreciate the personal approach of our legal professionals and support staff.
Working and Living in and around our office locations
The firm has offices in 14 locations across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
Our Head Office – Aquis House is on Clasketgate in Lincoln City Centre - a four floor suite of offices where around 100 of the firm’s partners and employees are based. Lincoln is a vibrant and beautiful city that has a magnificent architectural heritage including the world-famous cathedral and castle. In March 2018 The Sunday Times ranked Lincoln as the 12th greatest city in Britain. More than £150 million has been invested in the Brayford area, transforming the city centre and attracting investment from the retail, leisure and property sectors. There are many organisations including the University which host various festivals around the city including food and drink, performing arts, comedy, music and technology events.
Outside of the city, we have offices in the Lincolnshire market towns of Boston, Sleaford, Skegness and Spilsby.
Moving up to the north of the county, you will find us in the large industrial towns of Scunthorpe, Gainsborough and Grimsby, and over the border into South Yorkshire where we have a main office in Doncaster with branch offices in Bawtry, Thorne and Wath upon Dearne.
In the East Midlands we have a large office in Hockley, the creative quarter of Nottingham, and a specialist family law practice in Northampton.
Whether you prefer city life or a slower pace, the firm encourages all partners and staff to achieve and maintain a healthy work – life balance.
Equality and Diversity
The firm recognises that it cannot provide the best service without the best people. Regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or religious belief - the only thing that matters is that we have the people who truly embody the Sills ethos and place excellent client service at the heart of all they do.
Sills & Betteridge LLP is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally.
Social Committee
It doesn’t matter which department you work in or which office you work at; here at Sills we have a close-knit community. Our Social Committee is headed up by our Office Manager, Alison Lowe. It is encouraged by the partners and loved by our staff. We organise regular staff outings including trips to the races, water parks, exit rooms, restaurants, quiz nights and evenings out.
Everyone who wants to suggest, get involved in or help organise these events is welcome to.
Career Progression
Development is key. We believe in ‘growing our own’, whether it’s through CILEX, Apprenticeships or internal CPD courses through The Sills Academy. Our people are the cornerstone of our success, across legal, business support and early talent. We have an Apprentice Scheme which brings on prospective Paralegals and Solicitors as well as providing a springboard into the legal sector through our Business Administration Apprenticeships worked for alongside our Office Assistant roles. We run management courses for our emerging managers and there is clear structure for solicitors and legal executives detailing how they can progress to the next stage of their legal career.
