Becoming a Legal Executive (CILEX)
We often use the phrase that we like to ‘grow our own’ and one of the ways we can do this is through offering and promoting CILEX.
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) is the professional association and governing body for Chartered Legal Executive lawyers, other legal practitioners and paralegals.
CILEX offers a unique route to a legal career and becoming a qualified lawyer without a requirement to having a law degree, although law graduates and graduates with non-law degrees can also qualify as a lawyer through the CILEX route. Entry is accessible to those holding a variety of qualification levels. The CILEX route is the ideal way to obtain a law qualification for school leavers, graduates, legal support staff, mature students and those who already have family commitments.
While training through CILEX our people receive on-the-job training in the offices and within specific legal departments, whilst also attending classes in law and practice at one of their learning institutions or via distance learning. Many of our people qualified through distance learning.
If you are considering a switch to a career in law, or you want to earn whilst you learn and avoid student debt, CILEX is a great choice.
The firm offers CILEX to employees who have been with the firm for 2 years and have successfully submitted a business proposal for their training through HR. Sills & Betteridge LLP were awarded a Highly Commended status from CILEX for Promoting Access to the Legal Profession.
